This speech will go down in history.
"America, this is our moment! This is our time!"
That speech was amazing. He somehow managed to turn McCain's speech around from earlier and throw it back in his face. McCain saying he is an agent of change? Hah. Obama twisted that around. "That's not change we can believe in" became "It's not change when John McCain... XX"
His comment also about how if John McCain would stop talking about trips to Iraq and maybe look to the cities in America that need help, then he'd understand exactly what kind of change we'd need.
I absolutely loved the end of the speech. I had chills the whole time. This is the moment. This is when we can look back and say that things started to change. This is when we began to end the war, to heal the planet. Fancy words, I know, but it's SO powerful.
I am in awe of this man.
"America, this is our moment! This is our time!"
Always, always remember where you were this night. It's historic.

Trips To Iraq? No Thanks.
Barack just said that maybe if John McCain stops talking about trips to Iraq and starts taking trips to the cities of America that are hit hard economically, then maybe we'll get somewhere.

Hillary Stays In It!
So I just finished watching Hillary's speech. She said she's "not making any decisions tonight."
Why not?? Obama has crossed the line that determines the party nomination. How, exactly, does she expect to wrestle this back from his hands? It's like a figure skater who has continued to skate even after her opponent has been handed the gold medal...
AGH!
They're all projecting that Barack has enough delegates to get over the 2,118 line, effectively winning the nomination.
And I don't know about you, but I definitely heard Hillary say that the absence of the Twin Towers is an example of how resolute America can be and that's a reason she should stick it out. I don't know about you, but that to me seems worse than the RFK assassination comment... again, probably not intended to be disrespectful, but come ON! What is WRONG with you that you call on 911 as a reason to break the Democratic party wide open??

What to do, What to do...
So on Saturday, the leaders of the Democratic National Committee are going to sit down and decide what to do about Florida and Michigan. Personally, I think there's only one option--
Leave it how it is now. Don't seat the delegates.
Boo-hoo, Hillary, but you agreed that you weren't going to care about Florida and Michigan, because they moved their primaries. They violated the rules of the DNC and they HAVE to pay the consequences.
Howard Dean's gonna look terrible if he doesn't follow the rules his party has set forth. He's gonna look terrible if he does follow the rules, come to think of it... the people in Florida are pretty angry.
I was reading an article today that really got me thinking about this whole mess. It said that people in Florida are crying foul on the DNC not seating the delegates. One woman compared it to disenfranchisement of African Americans, and another said that, after all Florida went through with hanging chads, they shouldn't have their voices stomped on.
Because you had a messed up system of voting in 2000, you should be able to mess up our system of voting in 2008? I THINK NOT!
So anyway, they'll be deciding what to do this Saturday. CNN.com/LIVE is going to have LIVE COVERAGE of the meeting. I know I'll be glued to my laptop... how about you guys?

We All Remember When Hillary's Foot Got Stuck In Her Mouth...

They're talking about Hillary Clinton. She made some comments the other day about Robert F. Kennedy's assassination, yet ANOTHER example of how far the media is taking everything. They're scrutinizing everybody UNBELIEVABLY hard, and it's insane how angry they're getting over the smallest of comments.
Hillary made a comment the other day about Robert F. Kennedy being assassinated in June, giving that as a reason for why she should stay in the primary campaign until then. That seems tasteless, sure, but look at it in context:
"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it."
She's giving examples of Democratic primaries that have lasted until June. Any reason why we should FREAK OUT?!
No, but I'm reading comments from people who are saying she's suggesting she needs to be here in case Obama gets assassinated, and people saying she's a racist, and that she's insensitive. I'm sorry, but I don't get that at ALL.
And get this. A FoxNews analyst, Liz Trotta, was talking about this with another analyst and said,
"And now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, uh, Obama. Well, both, if we could."
Wha...?!?!?! Is she SERIOUS?! She's apologized, as you'd expect, but WHA?!!?! Obama, Osama, what's the diff, right? Kill 'em both! GAH come ON woman! You call yourself an American?!

Sweetiegate? PLEASE.
OK, so the other day Barack Obama was rushing from place to place and Peggy Agar, a reporter for an ABC affiliate in Detroit, asked him a question. He said, "Hold on a second, sweetie, we'll do a press avail."
A video of Obama calling the reporter sweetie raced its way around the Internet and people everywhere started calling him misogynistic and sexist.
I don't get it, I must admit. Sweetie. It's a term of endearment. Since when did sweetie become a bad thing?! I understand the reporter was angry that he didn't answer her question, which I totally understand, but why is it such a big deal that he called her sweetie?
I think this election the media has been ridiculously hard on all of the contestants. Everything they say, everything they do, and everything everyone they've ever met says and does is scrutinized unbelievably, and they've taken a lot of heat for it. I think the media is influencing this election perhaps a bit more than they should, and I really would like it to change. However, it's probably not going to.
Strike that... it's definitely not going to. It is what it is and it's only going to get worse as we move into general election time.
Barack later apologized to Peggy about his slip-up, telling her that it's a bad habit of his and he does it to all kinds of people. Personally I don't see why it's such a big deal, at all... he should be proud that he's got some manners, not upset that he refers to women with a term of endearment. Grow up, girls.
To Peggy Agar: Listen, sweetie, be glad he didn't call you 'ho' like Don Imus would've. At least Barack's got some class.
